Prayer Flag Gathering

August 9, 2 to 5 p.m. 2008

With Joell Jones & Jeanne Jabbour

Based on the traditional Tibetan Prayer Flag this workshop focuses on making your own version of a prayer flag to adorn your outdoor or indoor living space.

An assortment of fabrics and notions will be available at the workshop but feel free to bring in any material or items that inspire you. This is a reuse workshop so think about bringing a favorite article of old clothing, blanket, etc. that you would like to reuse to create your own personal prayer flag.

Prayer flags are inscribed with auspicious symbols, invocations, prayers, and mantras. For centuries Tibetan Buddhists have planted these flags outside their homes and places of spiritual practice for the wind to carry their beneficent vibrations across the countryside. Prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity to the flag planter and those in the vicinity
